Met Gala Looks

At the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, on September 17, the 2021 Met Gala took place. The theme for this year was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” and the celebrities had many different looks this year.

Starting with Kim Kardashian’s look, she wore a full-length all black look which was definitely the only thing like it this year. It’s very strange seeing the person who is known for her appearance to have covered up her entire body. Maybe she’s trying to make a statement on appearance, or just didn’t want to try this year, but the outfit could certainly be more interesting and also doesn’t fit the theme.

Billie Eilish wore a peach colored 1920’s-esque ball gown with an immense train draping behind her. The look resembles her ongoing transformation from ‘the angsty teen’ to ‘the gorgeous woman’. It looks absolutely beautiful and elegant, her new look is unquestionably working for her. Lil Nas X wore three different looks with a full cover velvet cape, then revealing a gold metal suit, and finally, a diamond-encrusted catsuit. The first and third outfits look stunning while the second looks like cheap plastic. These fit his theme of over-the-top outfits but don’t really fit the theme of the event as well.

Timothee Chalamet wore an all-white suit with sweatpants and converse. It was a bold choice to go in casual wear, but a wrong one. Being invited to a high-tail event like the Met Gala means going over the top and impressing people. The top is nice, but the bottom half just needs to go. Iman definitely came in with the most extravagant look of the night. Coming in with a gold strapless bustier and trousers underneath a gold-painted hollow hoop dress and headpiece. She stole the show with this outfit and rightfully so.
