Coachella is an annual music festival in Indio, California.  Not only is Coachella a major music fest but over the years has become an official fashion show among celebrities and influencers.  Trends worn this year were looks inspired by the most recent runaways shows and street style outfits.

Most outfits were clearly inspired by looks from Y2K and the 90’s.  Many people were seen wearing baggy jeans, bucket hats, cropped tops, statement jewelry and sneakers.  Popular clothing pieces worn were from retailers such as Neiman Marcus, Revolve, H&M, Free People, and Nasty Gal.

“I enjoy rating celebrities and influencers’ Coachella looks on Instagram,” stated Chris Apablaza, Sophomore.

This year, fashion model Kendall Jenner was photographed wearing a smock crop top, denim shorts, sneakers, and a crossbody bag.  In the past, models like Alessandra Ambrosio and Jasmine Tookers were seen wearing bikini tops and frayed denim jackets tied at the waist.  A well-known fashion aesthetic of Coachella has been a boho-chic outfit which usually includes a tired or ruffled dress or printed clothes and boots.

Another famous Coachella trend this year was crocheted tops.  Woven crocheted tops were paired with maxi skirts, flared denim jeans, or ripped denim shorts.  Other outfits were even inspired by characters from TV shows like Maddy or Cassie from HBO’s beloved show, Euphoria.  These looks would include cutout dresses, face gems, and sneakers.  Another TV show this year that influenced many looks was Bridgerton.  Fans of the show wore short hemlines or loose silhouettes to achieve a regency style look.

“I always love seeing what my favorite celebrities are going to wear to Coachella,” stated Emily Leach, Sophomore.

Some stars such as Vanessa Hudgens and Bella Thorne showcased a Rock ‘n’ Roll aesthetic as they wore all black clothing.  To capture that true Rock ‘n’ Roll aesthetic people wore a jumpsuit with stomping boots with a cover-up, and chunky necklaces.  Other famous stars like Zoe Kravitz presented a grunge look by wearing a frayed denim jacket or a plaid shacket over a band T-shirt and sneakers.

VIP members like Paris Hilton and Ashlee Simpson wore sheer maxi dresses or jumpsuits with a bodysuit paired with chunky waist belts and boots.  Minimalists dressers such as Nicole Richie and Jasmine Sanders wore a loose T-shirt dress with sandals.
